Brooke Christa Shields (born May 31 1965) is an American model and actress. As a child model she earned acclaim for her work for her lead role in Louis Malle’s film Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling through her teens and was a part of various dramas of the 1980s such as The Blue Lagoon (1980) as well as Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981). In 1983 Shields ended her modeling career to attend Princeton University where she received a bachelor's in Romance Languages. Shields was cast in film roles of minor importance and returned to acting roles in the 1990s. She also appeared on the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-2000), where she earned two Golden Globe nominations, and Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009). Shields returned to NBC in 2017 with an ongoing role as a Law & Order: Special Victims unit character in the show's 19th Season. Since 2014, Shields has voiced Beverly Goodman in the Adult Swim animated series Mr. Pickles and its spinoff Momma Named Me Sheriff. Brooke Christa Shields was a Manhattan, New York, native , born on May 31st of 1965. She is the daughter of Teri Shields, a actor and model, and Frank Shields, a businessman (1941-2003). Her mother was of English, German, Scotch-Irish and Welsh descent, while her father had English, French, Irish as well as Italian ancestry.According to the work of William Addams Reitwiesner, Shields has ancestral connections to many noble families of Italy particularly from Genoa as well as Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia di Civitella Cisi di Civitella was her paternal grandmother. She was the daughter of an American socialite and an Italian prince. Her great-uncle, Alessandro Torlonia, an Italian nobleman was husband to Infanta Beatriz in Spain. Teri was paid an amount by the family of Frank in order to end the pregnancy.
