Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg, raised in Wellington and made her debut as Flora McGrath when she played the character of Flora McGrath in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Actress Supporting Actress. When she answered an open audition call and was selected for the part, she was cast in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of an mute Scottish piano player who moves into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. It was her first role at the age of nine and had no previous experience as an actor. When she was a teenager her family relocated to the United States. Paquin was in a brief role in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was just a young girl as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as she was a leading character in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the 1996 television film adaptation Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin also had a role of Queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. She played teenagers on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
